Science Fiction: A genre of media which uses science and technology as a vehicle to advance a story.
Some of my favorite SF works would include:
- Orson Scott Card's novel Ender's Game,
- Fringe,
- Eureka, and
- Star Trek.

Under your definition, Kenny, would Vin Diesel's Fast & Furious movies be science fiction? They use technology to advance the story (automotive technology, that is).
ReplyDeleteGood point. I would leave Vin Diesel's movie out of SF. My definition is probably a little too vague. When I made my definition I was thinking back to movies such as 2001 that used the advancement of technology to move the movie forward. I still think that at the heart of any SF story technological advancements are propelling stories along.
