Origins of Sci-Fi Poll
I'm doing this poll because I'm writing this paper about detection and am trying to detect the origins of science fiction. I was was just wondering what people considered the very first work of science fiction.
I don't know for sure, but assuming you're only counting what came after the novel form was invented, you could probably make a case for Frankenstein being the first work of science fiction.

ReplyDeleteEveryone seems to think Frankenstein was the first, but I've also read stuff arguing for the Epic of Gilgamesh or Beowulf.
